The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Billiri Local Government Area chapter in Gombe State, has rejected the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election, describing the exercise as unfair and inconclusive.
In a statement dated May 16, 2026, the group alleged that the primary election was marred by irregularities, including the exclusion of several party members from participating in the process.
YOWICAN said the reported disenfranchisement of party members undermines internal democracy and sidelines grassroots participants within the party structure.

The group expressed concern that the conduct of the primary could threaten democratic values and social harmony in Billiri LGA if not properly addressed.
It therefore called on the national and state leadership of the APC, as well as relevant electoral authorities, to immediately investigate the election and take corrective steps to ensure all eligible members are allowed to exercise their democratic rights.
Despite its criticism of the exercise, YOWICAN appealed to youths and residents of Billiri LGA to remain peaceful and law-abiding, warning against actions capable of causing violence or division in the area.
“The peace and unity of our land must remain our priority above any political contest,” the statement said.
The statement was signed by the Coordinator of YOWICAN in Billiri LGA, Bro. S.B. Garba, and the Secretary, Bro. P.N. Sarki.
The group also called on the Federal Government to intervene promptly to prevent further tension and preserve peace and stability in Billiri LGA and Gombe State at large.
