Afrobeats singer Davido has been appointed as the Head of Youth Mobilisation for the re-election campaign of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the 2026 governorship poll. The announcement places the music star at the centre of the governor’s youth engagement strategy.
The appointment, which was disclosed by Davido via his verified X account on Tuesday, is part of preparations for Governor Adeleke’s re-election bid under the Accord Party. The campaign council, which will be officially inaugurated on April 22, 2026, is made up of 52 members, with Davido expected to play a key role in mobilising young voters across Osun State and beyond.
In his announcement, Davido confirmed he had been assigned the youth mobilisation role by the governor and described the development as part of efforts to support a smooth campaign and re-election process. He also expressed support for the governor’s second-term ambition.
Governor Adeleke, who assumed office in 2022, is contesting for another term after switching political platforms from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party in late 2025.
The singer, who is also the governor’s nephew, has been a consistent supporter in previous elections and has actively participated in campaign activities in the past. His influence, particularly among young people and on social media, is seen as a major asset to the campaign.
This latest political involvement follows his earlier appointment in October 2025 as Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund, where he was tasked with supporting sports development and infrastructure projects in the state.
