The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has met with fellow party member Mohammed Hayatu-Deen following the party’s presidential primary, saying both men agreed to work together for the future of the party and the country.
Atiku visited Hayatu-Deen at his residence in Lagos and was joined by several ADC leaders. The meeting came days after Atiku emerged as the party’s presidential candidate and as the ADC begins preparations for the next phase of its political campaign.
In a post on X, Atiku said the discussions focused on Nigeria and the party’s direction.
“Earlier today, I visited my brother and fellow aspirant in the @ADCNig presidential primaries, Alhaji Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, @Mohayatudeen, at his residence in Lagos. Our discussions on the state of our nation and party were frank and productive. We resolved to work together in the challenging task of reclaiming and rebuilding our beloved country for the greater good of our people. -AA”
A video shared by the former vice-president showed the two men exchanging greetings and holding talks during the visit.
The meeting is one of the first public engagements between Atiku and Hayatu-Deen since the conclusion of the ADC presidential primary. It comes as party leaders seek to close ranks and build support ahead of the general election campaign.
Among those who accompanied Atiku were former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal and Lagos politician Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.
