The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Thursday that it carried out a targeted strike in the Beirut area, claiming it eliminated Ali Yusuf Harshi, who it described as the personal secretary and nephew of Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem.
“The IDF carried out a strike in the Beirut area and killed Ali Yusuf Harshi, who served as the personal secretary and was the nephew of Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem,” the military said in a statement.
A correction was later issued clarifying that the individual killed was the nephew of Naim Qassem, not Naim Qassem himself, as previously implied in earlier reports.
